The Chelsea Hotel
New York City
The Chelsea Hotel by Diane Hill
Not all of our adventurers take place on Long Island. We
investigated the Chelsea Hotel in New York City where
many famous artists, musicians and writers have resided.
Dylan Thomas, Jack Kerouac and Bob Dylan are just some
of the talented and creative people who lived and worked at
the Chelsea. There is a poetic rhythm that pulls you in the
moment you enter. We sensed ghosts all around us as we
walked and photographed the hallways. The Chelsea is
famous, in part, for the deaths that took place in its rooms,
and the suicides as well. We became participants in the
hotel's story rather than just observers.

We rented room 425. It has French doors with
stained-glass windows overhead that  lead onto
a balcony overlooking West 23rd Street. We
abandoned our cameras and blended into the
fabric of the hotel to get to know it better - to
feel it. In the picture to the right are  orbs
following me down the stairs.

We will be going back to the Chelsea Hotel in
October for a more detailed investigation. Now
that we have experienced the hotel, we hope to
capture its ghosts on video, still photography and in
EVP.
