Pine Hollow Cemetery, Oyster Bay
Do you see the open mouth,
mangled teeth, rotted out
nose and eyes? A psychic told
us this was the face of a
spirit that toyed with
investigators one night at
Pine Hollow Cemetery. This
image was taken from a
frame from a video shot by
paranormal expert Mike
Salvia of Old Bethpage.

Do you see the face of the entity stalking Diane Hill one night outside West Hills Nature Preserve on Sweet
Hollow Road?  Diane was standing in the road when Joseph Flammer photographed her. There was nothing
behind her except for floating ghosts. It was the same night Joseph's camera had been slapped out of his
hands three times and the ghost looming before him shouted "No!" The entity's long snout is often seen in
photos of manifesting spirits. The belief is that the snout is attached to the ground, giving the entity spirit
energy to manifest. Photos by Joseph Flammer.

Touching Ghosts
Diane Hill makes physical contact with a ghost at 3:00 a.m. in Potter's Field Cemetery in Yaphank, now
renamed "Almshouse Cemetery."  In the photo on the left the spirit rises to meet her. In the photo on right she
accepts the hand of the ghost standing in front of her. The ghost first spoke to Diane when she thanked the
spirits for showing themselves to us in the form of mists. After she spoke the spirit responded by saying aloud,
"You're welcome." That's when a cold air overtook us and froze us to our cores and we had to leave. The full
story is told in-depth in our second book,
Long Island's Most Haunted Cemeteries (Schiffer: 2010).

Apparition on Sweet Hollow Road
This image of a man with dark, wavy hair and mustache, dressed in a coat with a wide collar, and standing over a
pool of light on the road, was shot in broad daylight right outside the entrance to West Hills Nature Preserve in
Melville, located on Sweet Hollow Road. Photographing apparitions is the rarest type of photography a ghost
investigator with a camera can expect. Joseph Flammer and Diane Hill returned to the road almost every day for
weeks before capturing this image. Some people believe the man in the photo was a soldier when alive, and that
his jacket looks like a military coat. A man in the audience at one of
The Paranormal Adventurers' lectures said
he once passed a soldier cooking over a campfire on Sweet Hollow Road, but when he returned to look for
evidence of the man and the campfire, there was none to be found.  Learn more about Sweet Hollow Road by
reading our first book,
Long Island's Most Haunted: A Ghost Hunter's Guide (Schiffer: 2009).
